How to downgrade Paypal Premier account to Paypal Personal account

My blog buddy alerted me to some fees being charged to all our incoming Paypal funds in the wee hours of the morning. I logged in to check and was shocked to see every single payment incurred a fee. I wanted to call Paypal immediately to clarify as i dont like waiting for their email response. It’s not the first time i called them. The first being when we had to verify our Paypal account with a US bank account or we cant receive payments, remember?
Anyway, too bad i wasnt able to contact then late last night, or should i say at 3am this morning as their working hours is what you see above. All Malaysian accounts are handled at Paypal Singapore. What to do…. I called them first thing this morning to clarify the fees. Do bear in mind that i am was a Premier Account holder right up till my phonecall with Paypal Singapore. Spoke with a lengjai called Eric (dnmch… since when Singaporeans have such heavy dunno wat wat accent wann).
I wanted to know why all all of a sudden, i saw fees being incurred on every single payment that came in. There was none previously, k. To my understanding, if those ads network choose to pay us by mass payment mode, we wont get the fees. Otherwise, we all get charged. Unless you are a personal account holder. Seems like many advertising networks changed their payout method and is no longer using mass payment option through Paypal. You may want to ask them again if you have further doubts, k.
To me, as long as i no longer get charged the fees, i dont care what kind of payment method they use. But do note that for personal account holders, you can only receive 5 credit card payments a year. You may want to go check their fees schedule for further detail on how much you’ll get charged if you were to receive payments via credit cards.
Eric advised me since i’m using my Paypal to receive funds only, i might as well switch it back to Personal Account instead of Premier Account. I can only DOWNGRADE it ONCE, i repeat ONCE….do you read me. And you CANNOT DOWNGRADE IT BY YOURSELF. You have to send them an email or call them up personally to downgrade it for you. It’s instant. And i saw the fees disappeared form my list once i refreshed my page. But of cos, dont be stupid, what’s being deducted HAS BEEN DEDUCTED and dont go and argue with them over it, okay.
Updated: Seems that there is a glitch in Paypal’s system that resulted in fees being incurred. Read here.

Hey bro good post, shit man! My payments all also deducted! DAMNIT!!! Costs me some money there already..
But I’m in a dilema! Should change like you or not.. I dunno what to do leh.. If I wait for a few days, I’ll loose money, if I downgrade, I’ dunno what will happen in the future..
Why lah they pay like that.. not fair lah..
Hi, Michael. Me not BRO wor… me SIS wor, LOLZ. Anyway, if u are not using their merchant services, then go back to personal. The longer you wait, the more you lose. Do the math. I lost nearly USD50 bucks in a single night as i got an influx of payments out of a sudden and it pissed me off. Next time, go open a separate Paypal premier with them lah if u wish to conduct business using Paypal as your payment gateway. Thanks for dropping by
