Do rechargeable batteries last long?

I bought this charger with this spare set of Energizer rechargeables AAA batteries for use with my wireless mouse. The GP ones are inside my wireless mouse now. Takes a good 5 hours to get fully charged. I used to buy normal batteries until i bought thiese. But the thing i found out is that they dont as last long as those ready ones. At the most, maybe three days, whereby the normal ones can last me double the duration. Is it only me or are these batteries like this??
