One of the reasons i have caller’s id enabled on my phone is to filter out calls from telemarketers. If you’re not on my contact list, i may or may not pick up the line. I do get a lot of those calls, especially from insurance companies. I have no idea where they got my phone number from and i dont care to know either. Half the time, i just slam the phone down. Let me tell you this, i’ll never buy anything over the phone. Especially when the person on the other line is just pushing to close the sale.

They’ll make it sound so easy, “Miss, you just have to agree, and we’ll charge this x amount to your credit card… blah, blah, blah….” Gimme a break. Since when do people buy insurance this way. Where’s the proposal, where’s the quotation, what’s the coverage like, etc. I’ve a few friends who’ve given in to this kind of pushy sales talk only to regret it when they found out that they are unable to make a claim due to ignorance on their part.

I dont like to meet up with insurance agents too. It kinda makes me compelled to buy from them. Especially when it’s referred by someone i know. Even my own friends who are insurance agents know better than to try and sell me a plan unless i ask them to. If not, sorry. Me, i prefer to buy my dental or medical insurance online. It’s better as i can get free quotes from all major insurance companies.
