Never let a paying customer walk out your door empty-handed

I wanted to buy a new keyboard. At the computer shop yesterday, i was attended to by a salesman. He explained to me the various kinds of keyboards he has on display, and recommended me one that suits my needs. Gave me a discount and the final amount i have to pay was Rm32.
I said okay and told him to charge it to my credit card as i dont have that much cash on me. Bought something earlier elsewhere. He told me that i have to pay an extra 2.5% if i wanted to pay using my credit card. I said okay. Then he told me they only accept credit cards for transactions of more than Rm50.
Aigh, if he had gone the extra mile and asked me if i needed anything else like paper or ink cartridges to make up for the qualifying amount for credit card transaction, i might have remembered i needed to buy A4 paper. But, he didnt. He just kept telling me sorry, he’s unable to proceed with the payment and as i do not have cash with me, allowed me to walk out of the shop empty-handed.
Dont they know that better than to let a customer who’s ready to pay go? Oh my God!!! If i’m the shop’s owner, he’ll be getting a piece of my mind. A person who pays with credit cards is usually ready to to buy more if persuaded. It’s because they dont see the real money changing hands, thus dont feel as though they’ve paid a lot.
I think this guy has a lot to learn if he were to make it in the sales world. And in business, it’s all about SELLING. He’d better master the art of persuasion if he wants to succeed in this competitive market. And one more thing. He ought to inform me they only accept credit card transaction for purchases above Rm50 first BEFORE telling me i have to pay the 2.5% surcharge.
